Every year, Canada welcomes immigrants from all over the world. Since 1985, the
HOST program has offered friendship and support so that immigrants and refugees
can get a good start on life in Canada.
Through the HOST program, new immigrants can meet a Canadian friend in their
community who can help them settle into their new life in Canada.
Canadian HOST friends help immigrants with such things as:
Finding their way around
and using local transportation
Practicing English or
French
Learning about community
services
Education and employment
issues
Registering children at
school
Shopping for groceries and
other items
Introductions to social and
recreational activities
It costs nothing to join the HOST program
