Learning a new language is not just helpful for ordering
meals and getting directions when you're on holiday - it's also a great
way to make new friends and add something interesting and valuable to
your CV.
And that's why we're giving undergraduate students starting
their first year of study in 2012 the opportunity to learn a language
free of charge. Our classes run for 10 weeks, two hours a week, and take
place in the evening, so you don't need to worry about your timetable.
Whether it's to make an impression on your future employers,
learn about other cultures, amaze your friends on holiday or put
yourself ahead of the competition in securing an international work
placement - knowing more than one language is always an advantage.
All first year students have the opportunity to learn Arabic,
Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish -
and you can choose to start your 10 week taster sessions either when you
start in October or in February.
There will be also a limited number of places for you to join
our hugely successful Part-Time Language Programme and take a 26 week
course which can lead to accreditation. You will be able to choose from
13 different languages and study with mature students, mostly with a
professional background, which will, no doubt, enrich your whole student
experience at Leeds Metropolitan University.
